JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Responsible for managing and maintaining network operations, including installing, testing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting of Puyallup Tribal Health Authority(PTHA) networks used for the transmission of information in voice, data and video format in a secured environment. In addition, this position is responsible for managing IT infrastructure assets: hardware and software systems, telecommunications, and wireless systems to ensure the overall performance and availability to PTHA users.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Responsible for knowing and understanding the concepts, industry standards and methodologies relating to high-availability network development, implementation and configuration.
• Analyze & assess capacity of hardware/OS/network and recommend upgrades/changes that will enhance performance and meet business needs in a report format to the CIO monthly.
• Responsible for providing expert technical direction and leadership in the design and implementation of the technical computing and communications infrastructure. Provide biweekly written report of infrastructure project status to CIO.
• Responsible for knowing and understanding the concepts, standards, practices and tools relating to network configuration, implementation and technical support.
• Analyze and troubleshoot network problems, identify appropriate solutions, implement the best solution, and keep users informed until the problem has been resolved. Provide adequate 24/7 Help Desk coverage. Provide weekly Help Desk summary reports of calls by technician to CIO.
• Evaluate, recommend, test and support hardware and software solutions for network applications. Perform and document disaster recovery testing of each critical system twice per year.
• Keep abreast of current and evolving networking technologies, solutions and products. Perform and document disaster recovery testing of each critical system twice per year.
• Responsible for development and implementation of organizational policies that relate to IT, clinical applications, support services and telecommunications. Maintain up to date infrastructure departmental protocols documenting systems & functions in a method that can easily explain what the purpose, requirements and step by step support details required. Monthly review and provide a report of changes to CIO.
• Act as contact for computer and network vendors. Maintain an up to date report of software and hardware inventory, licenses and warranty information. Provide a monthly report to CIO of this information including upcoming expirations.
• Manage projects from developing a project plan through implementation and staff training. Provide biweekly written report of infrastructure project status to CIO.
• Understand and apply network traffic flow standards and to utilize network traffic flow tools and equipment at an acceptable level of proficiency.
• Responsible for data protection (backup and restore procedures), network documentation as well as network redundancy. Develop and document a report of network performance statistics and trends for CIO monthly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):
Bachelor degree in a related IT field. Must have 6+ years of progressively responsible experience in information systems, communications hardware and software installation. MCSE or CISCO certification required.
